£170 million man Eden Hazard has bombshell of an update on Chelsea future!
Chelsea star Eden Hazard has admitted he is happy at Stamford Bridge, but has failed to commit his long-term future to the club.
The little Belgian superstar has been the subject of intense transfer speculation over the last few months as Chelsea fans have become sick of links with a move to Real Madrid, who reportedly see him as the ideal replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.
But despite all the rumours, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri persuaded him to stay at the club and help the Blues get back into the Champions League before he makes a decision on his next move.
And Hazard, who has two years remaining on his current contract, says he intends to stay at Chelsea for the season but was coy over his future prospects.
“Everybody knows what I have said after the World Cup,” the 27-year-old said.
“But I’m happy here. I don’t want to talk about it yet. A lot has been said, but at the moment I’m happy. I have two years left on my contract and we’ll see what happens. Leaving this year? I won’t go.
“The transfer market in England is closed. Clubs can still sell players, but not sign new ones anymore. It would be a bit strange that they would sell me now while they can’t sign a replacement.
Here is what we think.
Despite Chelsea’s keenness to keep hold of Hazard this summer, they should have cashed in this summer as they would have got top money for the Belgian, as next summer he will have only one year left on his current deal meaning chasing clubs will have a better chance to land him for less than the £170 million.
But the announcement will not come as a shock to many Chelsea fans as they already believe keeping hold of a player who wants to leave will not see Hazard give his best, especially as he plans for life at Madrid or Barcelona.
